Amazon and Nile are the longest rivers in the world. Additionally, the Amazon has the biggest water volume of any river on the planet. In fact, one-fifth the freshwater that flows into the oceans is sourced from the Amazon. Continue reading to learn more about these extraordinary waters. Yangtze-RiverChina's Yangtze River flows through China, covering an area of 3.7million square miles. Its drainage area supplies food and water to approximately 400 million inhabitants. The longest river in the world is also a major transportation artery connecting China's interior with the coast. Its flow is one of the biggest worldwide and carries a vast variety of goods, such as manufactured goods, coal as well as passengers. The river transported 795 million tonnes of cargo in 2005. The Yangtze River rises in the Tanggula Mountains and flows 3,900 miles before reaching the East China Sea. This image was taken from the orbit of the satellite Copernicus Sentinel-2 close to Chongqing. This image shows how the water levels are declining because of rising temperatures. The rivers are losing water and sediments to sea level. This can be seen in the west part of the river. Amazon River The Amazon River is a glacial river that comes from the Andes in Peru. It's length is six and a quarter million miles long, making it the longest river in the world. However, the roots of the river are not fully understood. Some scientists claim that the Amazon's glacial stream originates from the summit of Nevado Mismi, a mountain located in the Peruvian Andes. The length of the Amazon River is actually the result of many tributaries including the Para River Channel and the Northern Amazon River Channel. These two channels, referred to as"furo "furo," connect the Amazon to the Atlantic Ocean. This system makes it possible to go to the mouth of the Amazon, which is geographically strange. Nile River The Nile River flows over 6,600 kilometers and empties into Mediterranean Sea. It has been an important source of water for irrigation and transport for thousands of years and remains a major waterway. Families still draw water from the river's banks, and you can see ancient Egyptian ruins along its banks. Three main streams comprise the Nile River. The Blue Nile rises from Ethiopia The Atbara originates from Ethiopia's highlands The White Nile begins in Lake Victoria. Summary: Each image offers an unique perspective on how the rivers are changing as a result of changes in the climate. Each photo tells a tale about how the health of rivers could be affected by changes in the level of water and sedimentation or temperatures. The Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite will provide valuable information about global climate change. This information can help us better understand how our environment is changing and why it is important for us.
